KARACHI: A man and his son were killed while two others wounded when unknown assailants opened fire at them after storming into their house in Gulistan-e-Jauhar on late Monday night, ARY News reported.
Unknown assailants stormed into the residence of Muhammad Ali, who had alleged links with Lyari gang war, in Gulistan-e-Jauhar area and fired several shots at the family members, leaving four of the family critically injured, said the local police. Ali and his son succumbed to their injuries at a hospital while two others survived their injuries.
SP Gulshan Ghulam Murtaza Bhutto said that deceased Ali had links with Lyari gang war. Lyari gangsters had earlier murdered his three brothers, thus, this incident appeared to be motivated by the personal enmity.
Muhammad Ali hailed from Lyari and had recently moved to Gulistan-e-Jauhar.
While taking notice of the incident, IG Sindh A.D Khawaja has sought an inquiry report from the deputy inspector general of police (DIGP) East.
There has been a spike in criminal activities with the start of the holy month of Ramazan. Three days earlier Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Jamal Ahmed had come under an armed attack in North Nazimabad area, though he luckily survived the attack.
