KARACHI: A close circuit TV (CCTV) footage has surfaced of a kidnapping incident in which unidentified man snatched a newborn from a female beggar in city’s Baldia Town area and fled, ARY News reported Thursday.
The incident occurred within the remits of Madina Colony Police Station. The case has been registered by the police.
The footage shows the man first gives a few rupees to the begging woman who was sitting across the footpath. The man then cradles the baby and after a few seconds he flees away perching on a motorbike rode by his accomplice.
The woman also ran behind the bike but she couldn’t get hold of the miscreants. Police said the woman hadn’t received any information or call for an extortion.

In a somewhat similar kidnapping case last year, a minor girl named Faiza’s was kidnapped on September 12 by a veiled woman who snatched the minor from her hands outside her third-floor apartment within the precincts of Napier police station.
Police later brought an end to a sixteen day kidnapping drama staged by the family of an eight-month-old girl in Karachi’s Napier Road area by recovering the minor from her alleged guardian’s house.
