Lynching suspect says varsity administration asked him to testify against Mashal

MARDAN: A suspect arrested in Mashal Khan lynching case claimed that the university administration had asked him to testify against Mashal Khan.

According to ARY News correspondent Adnan Tariq, The accused Wajahat said in a written statement that the university administration on April 13 called him in chairman’s office and asked him to testify against Mashal.

Wajahat said that if he wouldn’t have testified against Mashal, the mob would have gone back, adding that he would not have attended the university that day if he were aware of the conspiracy.

He claimed that the security in charge Bilal Baksh had said that anyone taking side of Mashal and his comrades would be dealt with iron hands and he [Bilal] himself would kill Mashal.

A large mob attacked journalism student Mashal Khan last Thursday, stripping, beating and shooting him before throwing from the second floor of his hostel at the Abdul Wali Khan university in Mardan.

At least 22 people are under arrest in the case.
