ISLAMABAD: Former chief minister of Sindh Liaquat Ali Jatoi has challenged placing his name in the exit control list (ECL) in a petition in Islamabad High Court (IHC), ARY News reported on Wednesday.
A division bench of the high court comprised of Chief Justice Athar Minallah and Justice Mian Gul heard the case.
The counsel of Liaquat Jatoi said a case has been filed against his client over appointments in Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB).
The lawyer called placing the names of three out of seven accused in the case as malicious.
The Ministry of Interior has placed the name on the ECL on the recommendation of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB), the counsel said.
The court issued notices to NAB and other parties and summoned their reply over the matter.
The court adjourned the hearing for two weeks.
The NAB had filed a reference against former Sindh chief minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Liaquat Ali Jatoi last year for his alleged involvement in making illegal appointments in the Alternative Energy Development Board (AEDB).
Former prime minister Shaukat Aziz is also wanted in the same reference.
The anti-graft watchdog was ordered by NAB Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal last year to file a reference against Jatoi.
