ISLAMABAD: The 65th death anniversary of Pakistan’s first prime minister Liaquat Ali Khan is being observed on Sunday (today), ARY News reported.
Liaquat Ali Khan was born 2nd October 1895 in Karnal district in Eastern Punjab in present-day India. He graduated from M.A.O. College and went on to complete his higher education from Oxford University’s Exeter College.
He was a prominent figure in the Pakistan movement and played a key role in the struggle of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent.
He was elected as the first Prime Minister of Pakistan on 15th August, 1947. During his tenure the landmark Objectives Resolution was adopted on 12th March, 1949.
Liaquat Ali Khan was shot dead while addressing a public meeting at Liaquat Bagh in Rawalpindi on 16th October 1951. His assassination is one of the biggest unsolved mystery in the history of Pakistan.
