The court summoned the IG Punjab on August 13 (tomorrow) to file reply in the case. The court asked IG Punjab to clarify that why PTI workers were being arrested by law enforcement agencies.
A three-member bench of the LHC presided by Justice Mehmood Bhatti was conducting proceedings into the case. The court ruled that any political worker should not be arrested or harassed on illegal grounds.
The petition was filed against the arrest of PTI workers, closure of petrol stations and the barriers placed across various parts of the city.
Additional inspector general operations, during the hearing, told the court that barriers were placed across the city for security of PTI and PAT leaders Imran Khan and Dr. Tahir-ul-Qadri. He had added that terrorist activities were feared if the two leaders were not provided with adequate security.
