The petition was filed by All Pakistan Muslim League (APML) leader Ilyas Gujjar and was heard by Justice Ejaz-ul-Hassan.
It was stated in the petition that Asif Ali Zardari and the PPP leadership issued statements against Pakistan Army which could affect the ongoing military operations in the tribal regions. He also said that the former president’s statements are against the national sovereignty.
“The statements of PPP leaders do not befit them therefore a trial under the Article Six of the constitution should be held against them”, the petition stated.
The judge remarked that how can the court issue orders to carry out a treason case on the basis of just allegations. The tribunal rejected the petition and termed it ineffective.
