LHC petition seeks to place MQM leaders on ECL

The petitioner, Barrister Ali Gilani, stated that the three MQM leaders are involved in anti-Pakistan speeches and activities. They have also endorsed the anti-state speeches of the MQM chief, which violate the sanctity and security of the country.

He stated that several MQM leaders including the three have several cases against them across the country. Therefore, it was highly likely that they would attempt to flee from the country. Therefore, they should be placed on the ECL till the decision of their cases.

Supreme Court petition seeks ban on MQM

A petition has also been submitted in the Supreme Court to place a ban on the MQM. The petition also demanded that the MQM chief should be arrested through Interpol and brought to Pakistan to be hold accountable for his actions, while treason case should be launched against him and his facilitators.

The petitioner was filed by Barrister Zafarullah Khan of the Watan Party who urged to apex court to also order Pemra to ban all broadcasts of the political activities of the MQM.
