LAHORE: Justice Lahore High Court (LHC) Qazi Muhammad Amin on Tuesday hailed role Pakistan Army played to peacefully end the Faizabad sit-in saying that the army chief rescued the country from a huge catastrophe.
“Pakistan Army is doing great job. God knows how many people would have fallen dead, had army not played its role,” Justice Qazi Muhammad Amin said resuming hearing on the recovery of Deputy Secretary General Majlis-e-Wahdat-e-Muslimeen Syed Nasir Abbas Sherazi who went missing in Lahore earlier this month.
During the hearing, the LHC judge expressed immense displeasure over government’s failure to recover Sherazi.
Nasir Abbas’s brother, Ali Abbas apprised the court that his brother had moved court to disqualigy Punjab Law Minister Rana Sanaullah over controversial remarks against Justice Baqir Najfi. He blamed Rana Sanaullah for invovlvement in kidnapping of Nasir Abbas and sought from the court to issue orders for his release.
Police told the court that several raids were carried out in search of Sherazi.

Col Ahmed of Military Intelligence appeared before the court and told that Sherazi was not in MI’s custody.
The court directed intelligence agencies to work in collaboration to recover the deputy secy MWM.
“We are aware of potential of our intelligence agencies and it’s not a big deal for them to recover Sherazi.”
The judge lauded army and security agencies for rendering countless sacrifices for the sake of peace in the country.
The presiding judge also expressed chafe over the harsh tone adopted by the government against the judiciary.
“The ministers should learn how to respect the judiciary,” he said.
The case has been adjourned till December 4.
