Lawyers boycott courts to protest killings

Unidentified motorbike riding gunmen killed a lawyer Amir Haider Shah at Hassan Squar in Karachi on last Friday.

In Karachi, lawyers stayed away from court hearings in Sindh High Court, City Courts and other lower courts.

The lawyers on the call of bar associations also boycotted court proceedings in Lahore High Court and lower courts in Rawalpindi, Multan, Peshawar and Hyderabad.

A large number of litigants suffered problems due to the non-appearance of lawyers in courts to plead their cases.

Continued killings of lawyers and other professionals in Karachi leaving a question mark over the performance of the law enforcement agencies in the city.
