According to details, blaze erupted due to a short circuit in a UPS battery inside a shop, which engulfed the entire building within no time.
The Medical Superintendent (MS) Mayo Hospital, Dr Amjad has confirmed that thirteen dead bodies have been brought to the hospital and all the deceased died of suffocation followed by blaze. The deceased also included a woman.
Rescue 1122 workers have also evacuated several people who were trapped inside the plaza, however two of the injured were reported to be in precarious condition at the hospital.
Meanwhile, fire-tenders are busy quenching the blaze and rescue efforts are still underway.
It was further said that the locality is difficult to access same like Karachi’s timber market where almost 400 houses, shops and godowns were reduced to ashes due to a third-degree blaze which erupted late on Saturday night.
