Lahore: Court orders tailor to pay Rs 50,000 compensation to bridegroom for ruining dress

LAHORE: Wedding is a very special event and is it either bride or groom, they tend to look perfect on the big occasion. But a bridegroom from Lahore had his day spoilt over a poorly-stitched wedding dress.

According to reports, a District Consumer Court on Tuesday ordered the owner of a tailor shop to pay Rs50,000 as compensation to a man for damaging his wedding dress.

A man identified as Fateh Ali, a resident of Ichhra, approached the court and filed a petition against the tailor. He said in his plea that he had placed an order for stitching his wedding dress to a local tailor shop located in Ichhra Bazaar.

He said the tailor delivered his dress on his wedding day and it turned out that the suit was not fit to his measurements and was also damaged.

The consumer described the experience as “great mental agony” in his plea and urged the court to direct the owner of the tailor shop to pay him Rs100,000 as compensation.

Hearing final arguments in the case, the court directed the owner of the tailor shop to pay Rs50,000 as compensation and wrapped up the case.
