‘End’ to VIP culture in KP a sham or reality?

According to official statement issued on Saturday, “The government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is pleased to abandon undue and extra- protocol, unnecessary security routing, traffic restrictions and blocking of public roads during visits of VVIPs and VIPs throughout Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province with immediate effect and in the best public interest, and to avoid any inconvenience to the general public.”

The concluding lines of the notification states that, “Mandatory security to VVIPs and VIPs will be provided in accordance with law and security protocols as usual.”

The aforementioned para has stirred up a debate whether the announcement made by the KP will actually lead to end the VIP movements.

The PTI-led provincial government in KP had announced the new measure following a controversy after death of an infant outside Karachi’s Civil Hospital who was denied entry in the wake Bilawal Bhutto’s arrival at the facility for inauguration of newly-built trauma centre.
