Khawaja Asif lauds COAS Asim Munir’s statement

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister of Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif lauded the views of Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir during an in-camera session of the National Assembly (NA) on Friday, ARY News reported.

While addressing an in-camera National Assembly session, Khawaja Asif lauded the COAS General Asim Munir’s thoughts and termed it ‘very welcoming’.

The defence minister further said that the Supreme Court is resisting the legislation to protect its power, adding that the power should be divided so that democracy should prevail.

He said that the politicians did not interfere in anyone’s powers and the Parliament will also not tolerate any interference.

Khawaja Asif said that politics is the domain of political parties, but politics is happening in the Supreme Court. He said that the justice institution should be strengthened as 51,000 pending cases are awaiting justice for the underprivileged.

Earlier in the day, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir said that the Constitution of Pakistan and the Parliament reflect the opinion of Pakistanis.

During an in-camera session of the National Security Committee, COAS Syed Asim Munir said that the nation is the centre of gravity for the state of Pakistan. He congratulated the Parliament and lawmakers on the completion of 50 years of the 1973 Constitution of Pakistan.

COAS Munir said that Pakistanis are the centre of powers and the Constitution and the Parliament reflect their opinions.

“The nation exercises its opinions through the Constitution and the Parliament and Allah Almighty is the supreme power. According to the Constitution, the powers will be exercised through the representatives elected by the nation.”
