Karachi dairy farmers hike milk prices by Rs6

KARACHI: Overlooking Commissioner Karachi Ejaz Ahmed Khan’s orders, Karachi dairy farmers on Tuesday unilaterally increased milk prices by Rs6, ARY News reported.

Milk has started selling at Rs90 per liter rather than Rs84. Earlier, the dairy farmers had signed a government notification to sell milk at Rs80.

The dairy farmers stated that they could not sell milk at the price capped by the government due to increase in the cost of production.

The commission Karachi has warned that strict action will be taken against the milk sellers who will increase the prices without consent of the government.

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Malir Muhammed Ali turned down the media reports and said milk prices were not hiked. It was still being sold at Rs80.

“I talked to representatives of dairy farmers today and they have assured not to raise milk prices,” he claimed.
