Alleged dacoit killed in Karachi police encounter, 32 suspects rounded up

KARACHI: Police shot dead an alleged dacoit in an ‘encounter’ during a raid on Thursday night in Ittehad Town area of the metropolis, while arresting his accomplice. 

According to police, the slain robber was involved in numerous incidents of snatching in the city and five stolen mobile phones were recovered from his possession.

No further details could be garnered with regard to the identity of suspect.

Separately, police rounded up 31 suspects in various overnight raids across the city.

As many as 26 miscreants were taken into custody and shifted to local police stations for interrogation on suspicion of their involvement in criminal activities during combing operations in North Nazimabad, Buffer Zone, Liaquatabad and Ajmer Nagri.

Police also claimed to recover an unlicensed weapon from the possession of a miscreant.

In another raid, four suspects were arrested during a raid in Orangi Town and Pirabad. Police also seized a weapon and ammunition from possession of the suspects.

In another incident, a robber was arrested in an injured condition while his accomplice managed to flee the spot following a gun battle with police.

Police claimed that the injured suspect was robbing a rickshaw driver when an exchange of fire ensued between them and the suspect.
