Kamran Tessori submits resignation to Farooq Sattar

KARACHI: Kamran Tessori, who was considered the major source of contention within the Muttahida Quami Movement (MQM-P), on Friday reportedly submitted his resignation to Farooq Sattar, ARY News reported.

Tessori also announced that he would not contest the intra-party elections which are scheduled to be held on Sunday February 18. He said that he has submitted his resignation to Farooq Sattar and any decision taken by him would be accepted.

He denied having any recent contact with Sattar and said he had shifted to Islamabad along with his family since the last few days. He said that he wanted to dispel the impression that Sattar was unable to take any party decision due to him.

The ongoing internal rift within the MQM-P started after Farooq Sattar decided to issue a ticket for the upcoming Senate elections to Tessori. The move was opposed within the party which split into two different factions. The disgruntled wing in the Bahadurabad office eventually move to oust Sattar as convenor.

Tessori shot to prominence after he joined the MQM in October 2016, months after the party disassociated with MQM founder after incendiary speeches on August 22, 2016. He was exalted as deputy convenor and also issued ticket for PS-114 by-election in July 2017 in Karachi which he lost.
