CHARSADDA: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday inaugurated the new judicial complex in Charsadda and urged judges and lawyers to make it a paradise by ensuring speedy justice to people rather than reducing it to mere concrete structure.
Addressing adjudicators and members of the legal fraternity of the city at inauguration ceremony, the chief justice said it is the people working for an institution who shape its identity.
He said the time has come to improve the judicial system, adding that judges are criticized when people don’t get swift justice.
Justice Nisar said judges and lawyers will have to look into the reasons for inordinate delays in provision of justice to people.
He once again asked judges to ensure speedy justice as per the existing laws. “Even today, I am hearing the cases that were instituted way back in 1985. The cases lodged in 2000 and 2002 are pending disposal.”
“Tell me what answer should I give to these litigants,” he asked. “I was born in 1954 and a few months earlier, I decided a case of 1956.”
“We have to account for the delays and responsibilities entrusted upon us,” Justice Nisar said. If judges will work with passion, he opined, people would get justice speedily.
