MULTAN: Veteran politician and PML-N leader Javed Hashmi on Friday withdrew his candidature for two National Assembly seats – NA-155 (Multan-II) and NA-158 (Multan-V).
He is said to have withdrawn his nomination papers he had submitted for the two NA constituencies in Multan after being denied an election ticket by the PML-N.
Hashmi didn’t figure in the list of candidates who have been awarded tickets by the former governing party.
He rejoined the PML-N and reposed trust in the leadership of former premier Nawaz Sharif in May, this year.
In the election of 2013, he contested from his native constituency on a PTI ticket and emerged victorious.
It may be mentioned here that two political heavyweights – former premier Yusuf Raza Gilani is in the run for NA-158 and former foreign minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi is vying for NA-155.
