Jam Kamal sworn in as chief minister Balochistan

QUETTA: Mir Jam Kamal Khan on Sunday sworn in as 16th Chief Minister of Balochistan at a graceful ceremony at the Governor House in Quetta.

Governor Balochistan Muhammad Khan Achakzai administered oath to him.

The oath-taking ceremony was attended by Speaker Balochistan Assembly Mir Abdul Qaddus Bizenjo, Deputy Speaker BA Sardar Babar Musa Khel, Caretaker Chief Minister Allauddin Marri, elected representatives and high ranking officials.

Mir Jam Kamal was elected as Leader of the House during Balochistan Assembly session a day earlier. He secured 39 votes in secret ballot poll, while his rival Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl leader Mir Yunas Aziz Zehri managed to secure 20 votes.

Jam Kamal belongs to a royal family of Lasbella. He was born in 1973, and completed his early education from his native town Lasbella.

He moved to Karachi where he obtained MBA degree from a private university. He started his political career from local bodies elections and remained town nazim of Lasbella twice.

Jam Kamal served as Minister of State for Petroleum and Natural Resources from 2013 to 2018 during the previous PML-N regime.

His grandfather late Jam Ghulam Qadir and his Father Jam Muhammad Yousaf also served the province as chief minister.
