RAWALPINDI: An officer of Pakistan Army embraced martyrdom in a gun battle with terrorists during a search operation in Kulachi area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Dera Ismail Khan district, a statement by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said on Wednesday.
Major Ishaq was 28 years old who martyred during the search operation conducted on a tip-off about presence of terrorists in a hide out, the statement said.
The martyred officer hails from Khushab who left behind a widow and one-year-old son.
Funeral prayers of the martyred officer were held in Dera Ismail Khan. Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and other officials attended martyred officer’s funeral.
In another operation yesterday, Balochistan Frontier Corps (FC) conducted an Intelligence Based Operation in village Panodi, located 25 kilometres from Balnigur in Makran. Two terrorists belonging to a proscribed organisation were killed in the operation. During exchange of fire with terrorists, Sepoy Nasir Mehmood embraced martyrdom while two other soldiers sustained injuries.
These terrorists were involved in different activities, including destroying a bridge on M-8, planting IEDs and attacks on security forces, ISPR said in a statement.
A large quantity of arms and ammunition, including IEDs, were also recovered from the terrorists hide out, the statement added.
