Islamabad decides to extend deployment of Rangers for six months

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has decided to extend the deployment of Rangers in the federal capital for six months, ARY News reported on Monday.

As per details, the city administration requested the interior ministry for an additional 300 Ranger personnel as a Quick Response Force (QRF).

The decision to extend the Rangers deployment was made for the strict security in Islamabad. The district administration made a written request to interior ministry for the extension.

Earlier, Islamabad police said that it was “fully equipped” to provide end-to-end “fool-proof and world-class” to the New Zealand cricket team during their upcoming visit to Pakistan.

The Black Caps arrived in Pakistan on April 9 for the ODI and T20I series began on April 14 in Lahore.

On Saturday, sources in the police department had told ARY News that the federal capital police had refused to provide security to New Zealand cricket team for limited-overs series.

The sources said that the federal police were busy in providing security to ‘ongoing census and flour distribution’, adding that the provision of resources and expenses was the responsibility of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).
