HUB: An investigation team comprised of seven members arrived at the shrine of Shah Noorani, the scene of a huge bomb attack on Saturday that claimed around 50 lives of the devotees of the shrine, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
The seven-member investigation team headed by deputy commissioner Khuzdar Suhail-ur-Rehman Baloch included members from the Military Intelligence (MI), Inter Services Intelligence (ISI), Intelligence Bureau (IB), Special Branch, Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) and police investigators.
The investigators have collected splinters of grenades and 9mm bullets from the crime scene.
Investigation officials have recorded statements of the two members of the management of the shrine.
The limbs of a suspected suicide bomber have been transferred to Quetta for probe. The limbs and pieces of the body will undergo a DNA test to determine the identity of the bomber, officials said.
The investigation team will complete its report and will submit it to the competent authority within 30 days.
Official sources said on Monday that a section-144 was also imposed, which forbids the gathering of more than four people at any public place.
The attack killed at least 42 and wounded more than 50 and was the fourth deadliest in Pakistan this year. Stricken survivors swathed themselves in blankets and braved the cold under open skies overnight as they made their way home.
The blast, confirmed to be the work of a teenage suicide bomber by the government officials, hit male and female devotees as they were dancing and chanting at the shrine of the Sufi saint Shah Noorani around 200 kilometers distance from Karachi at a secluded valley in the hilly terrain of Khuzdar district of Balochistan.
