Sources told that a physical occurred in the cable ‘SEAMEWE4’ off Karachi coast, the location of the fault has been identified; however efforts to fix the fault are taking more than the expected time.
Sources within the PTCL – which relies heavily on the same cable – also confirmed the fault and said that in its wake the bandwidth is being shifted to other cables to avoid any obstruction in country’s demand for connectivity.
It was reported that the fault may take a couple of weeks in getting fully fixed and until then bandwidth reliance on back-up cables will be enhanced.
During this period, internet users may face low download/upload speeds.
