According to Indian Foreign Ministry statement on occasion of Pakistan Day, India said it would hold direct talks with Pakistan if Hurriyat leaders are not a part of it.
However, Pakistan has always adopted a stance that Pak-India talks over Kashmir should also have third stakeholder [Kashmiri leaders] on board.
It may be noted here that Pakistan embassy in New Delhi had organized a gathering to mark Pakistan Day last night, which was attended by six Kashmiri leaders including Mirwaiz Umar Farooq. Indian government, however, did not object to it.
The Indian media, on the other side, remained critical on participation of Kashmiri leaders in the gathering.
