ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan on Wednesday said the Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leaders were threatening the Joint Investigation Team probing the family of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif over the Panama Papers case verdict.
The PTI chairman speaking to mediapersons said the PML-N would have attempted to influence the JIT, and was making it controversial after the failure to win over it.
“Their actions and statements, the expressions on Ishaq Dar’s face, suggests they attempted to influence the JIT,” he alleged. “I am sure their history of bribery suggests they would have attempted to influence the JIT.”
He further said said that the PML-N was now attempting to discredit the JIT and make it controversial as it was not used to ‘neutral umpires’.
He warned against such nefarious designs against the JIT and said threatened to take to the streets over it. “I will bring a sea of people on just one call, that they cannot even imagine,” he said. “The people are ready (to come out). I challenge them.”
The political temperatures seems to rise as the JIT concludes its two months investigation and will submit its final report to the Supreme Court on July 10.
Earlier, PML-N leaders Tariq Kirmani and Talal Chaudhry lauched a diatribe against the JIT and said it will also be held accountable.
“The JIT should not be attempt to be the Supreme Court or higher authority,”said Kirmani while speaking to media during Mariyum Nawaz’s appearance on Wednesday.
He said the the JIT will be held accountable for his expenditures after the July 10 deadline. He warned them to keep their book-keeping records with them.
PML-N leader Talal Chaudhry also echoed similar views and said the JIT was answerable to the Supreme Court, the parliament, and to the people.
