Imran vows to prove in court his Bani Gala residence not ‘illegal’

ISLAMABAD: As the Capital Development Authority declared Imran Khan’s Bani Gala residence in Islamabad ‘illegal’, the cricketer-turned-politician took to Twitter this morning to dispute the CDA claim and vowed to prove legality of his residence in the court.

Chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Imran Khan, in his Twitter posts, blasted the ruling Pakistan Muslim League (Nawaz) for allegedly attempting to block PTI’s funding from overseas Pakistanis.

He said he would not only show money trail of purchase & sale of London flat & money brought back to Pak before the SC, but also show before SC proof that he had his Bani Gala house plans approved by Union Council of Mora Noor before its construction kicked off.

Why CDA declared Khan’s residence illegal?

The PTI chairman had filed an application in the Supreme Court of Pakistan over the burgeoning encroachments in the Bani Gala, but instead found his residence in the list.

The CDA submitted its report to the Supreme Court and declared a total of 122 structures including Imran Khan’s residence (bearing number 92) built in violation of the rules of the Islamabad Capital Territory.

The report contains a list of illegal structures and encroachments around Bani Gala, and said that the structures constructed in Zone 3 and 4 need to be demolished.

The Bani Gala residential area located at the eastern bank of Rawal Lake has remained controversial since it was established in 2000.

The CDA has imposed Section 144 in Bani Gala and is not collecting waste and garbage from the area. The absence of waste disposal is increasing environmental pollution in the locality.

Speaking to ARY News, Fawad Chaudhry decried the political victimization and said that no matter what the regime does, Imran Khan and PTI will not back out from the Panama Papers case.

“No matter whatever happens, Imran Khan and PTI will not back down from the Panama case,” he said.
