Imran submits bank statements provided by Jemima in SC

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan submitted to the Supreme Court the bank statements provided by his ex-wife Jemima to establish the money trail behind the acquisition of his Bani Gala land, ARY News reported.

A three-judge bench headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Saqib Nisar had taken up a petition filed by PML-N leader Hanif Abbasi seeking disqualification of PTI leaders Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen for failing to disclose their assets in their nomination papers.

During the hearing, PTI counsel asked the court not to make public the details regarding bank accounts and letters from Lloyds Bank.

In a tweet  Jemima – had earlier confirmed to have found 15 years old bank statements to vindicate Khan in money trail case in the Pakistani court,

Khan was reported to have called on his

ex-wife Jemima, asking her to provide record of money transfer that led to purchase of land for his  Bani Gala residence. To which,  Jemima had assured him to provide the record of the transactions and has approached the Lloyds Bank in this regard after the phone call.

The apex court while finding the statements of Imran with regard to the acquisition of his Bani Gala land contradictory had asked him to prove the money trail behind the purchase of his residence.

Earlier, Imran’s counsel had claimed that he had received the land, measuring 300 kannals as a gift from  ex-wife Jemima Khan. On another occasion, he said that he had borrowed money from his ex-wife to pay for the Bani Gala which he had purchased on March 13, 2002 for 43.5 million.
