LAHORE: A local lawyer has served a legal notice to cricket legend and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan over his statement regarding foreign players playing the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 final at Lahore, ARY News reported.
It should be noted that Imran Khan had termed foreign players — who played the final of Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2017 in Lahore on Sunday — as ‘Phateechars’ (low-level).
The legal notice, by a lawyer Hafsa, stated that Imran Khan — being a national leader — turned the event of national pride into a disputed one by issuing statements that were controversial in nature.
She added that the former cricketer tried to divide the masses by giving statements on security measures for the match despite assurances of Chief of Army Staff about the security arrangement for the fixture.
The counsel demanded Imran Khan to tender an apology over his statement within 15 days or the matter will be raised in the court.
PSL 2017 Champions Peshawar Zalmi decided not attend the dinner reception given in their honour by the government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as protest over Khan’s statements.
