Imran Khan moves LHC for clubbing all cases ‘in a single court’

LAHORE: Former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Saturday moved Lahore High Court (LHC) to seek transfer of all the cases registered against him to ‘a single court’, ARY News reported.

According to details, the former premier filed a petition in Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking hearing of all cases registered against him across Punjab to ‘a single court’.

In the petition, the PTI chief has also requested for provision of security. “Imran Khan is a former prime minister and has serious security concerns,” the petition stated.

It added that baseless and political cases have been registered against Imran Khan across the country. “The PTI chairman was facing difficulties while appearing before courts in baseless cases”, the petition added.

The petition noted that his court appearance also affects the hearings of other cases. “All the cases registered in Punjab should be heard in one place,” the petitioner maintained.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Lahore High Court (LHC) fixed Imran Khan’s petition seeking the dismissal of 121 cases

registered against him.

A five-member bench headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi will conduct the proceedings on Monday (May 8). The bench also includes Justice Alia Neelam, Justice Tariq Saleem, Justice Anwarul Haq and Justice Amjad Rafique.

The court has sought a report from relevant authorities regarding the ongoing investigation in the case, while the five-member bench has ordered Imran Khan to join the probe.

The former prime minister moved the Lahore High Court to dismiss 121 cases registered against him. The petition stated that the cases registered against the PTI chief Imran Khan are based on false accusation and on political basis.

The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA), the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the Federation of Pakistan, the province of Punjab, Punjab Inspector General Dr. Usman Anwar, the director general of the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, and Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi were all named as respondents in the petition.
