Former leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Faisal Vawda, has claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan-led sit-in was aimed to thwart the appointment of General Asim Munir as the Army Chief, ARY News reported on Tuesday.
While talking to a private news channel, the former federal minister Faisal Vawda said that all the claims regarding removal of General Asim Munir as DG ISI are true.
He claimed that some individuals made every effort to ensure that the Asim Munir does not become the Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
He maintained that the murder of senior journalist Arshad Sharif’s, Imran Khan’s sit-in, and attack on PTI chief Imran Khan, were aimed to prevent General Asim Munir to become the Army Chief.

Faisal Vawda claimed that, “the field was set for Asim Munir when he was Director General of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).”
Faisal Vawda further claimed that when Imran Khan was the Prime Minister, he had asked General Asim Munir at that time to manage the Senate, but he refused. Later, Asim Munir presented the evidence before the former premier Imran Khan of his wife’s ‘corruption’ and the next day he was removed from his position.
“It was such a quick and troublesome situation that Faiz Hameed took charge at 11 o’clock at night,” Faisal added.
According to Faisal Vawda, he had warned General Asim Munir at that time, and in response, General Asim Munir asked, “Should I be disloyal to my country and Prime Minister as you suggest?”
