ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Monday that Pakistan will have to be watchful as terror threats prevail in Pakistan prior to elections in India, ARY News reported.
PM Khan, while holding informal talks with the journalists, said that the United States, which always maintained rhetoric of ‘do more’, was now praising Pakistan. He said that a message has been received from US president Donald Trump but no progress was made so far.
Imran Khan clarified that Pakistani authorities were on high alert as it was facing danger from Indian side till elections.
The prime minister detailed that shortfall and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) were major reasons behind hike in gas prices as the government purchased 1,400 cubic feet and sold it in Rs650. He added that the faulty transmission lines caused energy crisis across the country.
Imran Khan revealed that Asia’s largest underwater gas and oil were discovered in Karachi.
Commenting over jailed former prime minister, PM Khan said that the government was providing all facilities for carrying on treatment of Nawaz Sharif. He questioned whether to amend laws for sending Sharif abroad. He slammed Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) supremo, saying that the former premier failed to construct a hospital despite establishing 30 factories.
The premier clarified that the government was not afraid of protests by opposition. He said that [Punjab Chief Minister] Usman Buzdar could not be compared with Shehbaz Sharif. He added that the government will provide containers to opposition parties at D-Chowk if they have decided to organise demonstration.
He urged National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to grip big fishes instead of low-category criminals involved in corruption. He added that corruption was increased due to the anti-corruption watchdog during the previous tenures.
The premier expressed complete confidence over his cabinet, as well as Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar and the provincial government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP). He said that position results would be emerged if the leaders were given some time to perform.
Imran Khan said that best-ever results were emerging by recent foreign policies adopted by the federal government. He added that the United States (US) has considered crucial role of Pakistan in establishment of longstanding peace in Afghanistan. He said that Islamabad was enjoying best economic relations with China, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Turkey.
PM Khan announced that a comprehensive programme for poverty alleviation will be initiated from March 27.
