Imran decides to hold federal cabinet meeting twice a week: sources

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday decided to hold meeting with the federal cabinet twice a week and monitor the ministers’ performances regularly, said sources.

“I will keep a check on the ministers’ performances,” he said while chairing a meeting about choosing Punjab cabinet ministers.

Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar, Aleem Khan, Naeem-ul-Haq, Fayyaz Chauhan and other PTI leaders were also present on this occasion.

Sources said the premier will hold the federal cabinet meetings on Tuesday and Friday.

The sources said Imran has directed the chief minister Punjab to adopt frugality in expenditures.

He said people were expecting change from the newly-elected government.

“We will have to be ideal leaders for the masses. I will begin austerity from myself and then spread it to entire the province,” he said.

The prime minister has reportedly decided names for ministries of the Punjab government.

Sources said Aleem Khan has been selected as local government minister, Yasmin Rashid as health minister, Sardar Ras as education minister, Yasir Humayun as higher education minister, Hashim Bakht as finance minister, Raja Basharat as law and parliamentary affairs, Hafiz Ammar as minister for forests and Sibtain Khan as agriculture and natural resources minister.
