HYDERABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan Mian Saqib Nisar says bringing more improvement in performance of courts is the need of the hour.
Addressing a gathering of lawyers in Hyderabad on Saturday night, he said lawyers’ bodies should come up with suggestions to improve the system of provision of justice.
The chief justice stressed the need for bringing reforms in the judicial system and said it is the responsibility of the judiciary to provide justice to people.
He said provision of education and healthcare facilities is fundamental right of the people and added if the executive authorities will perform well, the burden of cases on courts will automatically reduce.
He reiterated he takes suo motu notices as per his powers and added whatever he is doing is part of his job, not a favour.
The courts are obliged to ensure provision of rights to the people, he said and admitted that they have not yet been fully successful in this regard.
A day earlier, the CJP visited various health facilities in Larkana and Sukkur to examine the state of healthcare facilities being provided there.
During a visit to different sessions courts in Larkana to observe their hearings and proceedings, the chief justice lost his cool after he spotted a cellphone at the table of a local judge and threw it with a warning to avoid using the gadget while at work.
