KARACHI: Acting Inspector General (IG) Sindh Sardar Abdul Majeed Dasti has called for foolproof security measures on the 38th death anniversary of former prime minister Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto being observed on April 4.
Dasti presided over his first meeting since taking charge to review the law and order situation of the city here on Sunday. Additional IG Sindh Aftab Pathan, AIG Traffic Sindh, DIG Traffic along with AIG Operations Sindh and other senior officers were present in the meeting.
Dasti directed police officials to effectively implement the contingency plan by avoiding any kind of negligence on the occasion. At least 6,800 police officers will be deployed across the province, while 700 traffic policeman will be posted to ensure the smooth flow of traffic.
He also directed the officials to intensify patrolling on entry and exit routes to Garhi Khudabux and Naudero as large number of people from other provinces are expected on the occasion. The attendees will also be monitored through drone surveillance cameras.
Furthermore, he directed police for snap checking, strict surveillance at parking lots and advance intelligence collection. Sindh Police has also issued a helpline and urged people to inform about any suspicious bag, parcel, vehicle and activity on the occasion.
IG Sindh warns over negligent and carefree attitudes towards protecting lives and an properties of people, and no tolerance will be showed towards such policeman. He said that he will personally oversee all security arrangements.
