ICC Champions Trophy starts tour in Karachi from Edhi home

KARACHI: ICC Champions Trophy started its tour from Edhi home in Karachi, ARY News reported on Thursday.

A month after the ICC Champions Trophy 2017 tour launched in Dubai, the trophy has visited India, Dhaka in Bangladesh and Colombo in Sri Lanka.

The trophy arrived at the Edhi home in Karachi on Thursday.

Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi, was present at the event at Edhi Home where the trophy was presented to honour the services of Pakistan’s charity icon late Abdul Sattar Edhi.

Afridi talking on the occasion said Abdul Sattar Edhi has served the humanity. He lauded the services of the late social worker. His mission should continue, he said.

The son of Abdul Sattar Edhi, and Faisal Edhi was also present on the occasion.

Afridi also said that Pakistan team can get better results in ICC events by focusing on its bowling, fielding and batting.

Talking on a likely cricket series between Pakistan and India, the star allrounder said that the BCCI wants cricket with Pakistan. If the series decided to happen the cricket fans will see a good contest.

On a question Afridi said he will definitely watch the series if it was decided by the two sides.

Shahid Afridi was also accompanied by officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and ICC at the event.

The trophy in its global tour will visit Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in South Africa from 4-12 April, Auckland in New Zealand from 15-18 April, Melbourne and Sydney in Australia from 19-27 April and United Kingdom from 2 May onward.
