The topmost platform for civil-military coordination on security issues of the country deliberated on important internal and regional security issues soon after the meeting began early morning on Friday.
During the meeting, the premier was briefed over the growing wave of unrest in the Indian-held Kashmir and Afghanistan by the Foreign Office.

The participants of the meeting condemned the use of force by the Indian security forces over unarmed and innocent Kashmiris who have been peacefully protesting against the killing of Wani. Urging that the United Nations must send a fact-finding mission to investigate killing in Kashmir, PM Nawaz said, “Use of force against Kashmiris is a violation of their fundamental rights to protest.” The statement continued to state that just by suppressing the voices of Kashmiris, India will not be able to continue its occupation in IHK.
The meeting reiterated that Kashmir conflict would be resolved if the UNSC resolutions regarding the troubled valley are implemented fairly.
Premier was also briefed over the National Action Plan, the progress of the ongoing military operation Zarb-e-Azb and issues in extending the tenure of paramilitary forces in Karachi amid city’s grand operation against militants.
Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Zakaullah, Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lieutenant General Rizwan Akhtar, Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee (CJCSC) General Rashad Mahmood, National Security Adviser Nasser Janjua, Information Minister Pervaiz Rashid, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar, Defence Minister Khawaja Asif, Finance Minister Ishaq Dar and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Sartaj Aziz attended the meeting with other senior officials.
Before the NSC meet today, the prime minister met Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Raheel Sharif and discussed the security situation in the region and IHK.
This was the first high-level meeting after the prime minister’s delayed return to the federal capital yesterday.
After his arrival on July 9 from London, the prime minister was running official affairs of the country through a camp office in Lahore. The premier had left for London in May for a routine medical examination when his doctors recommended him an immediate open-heart surgery.
