Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Asad Umar said on Thursday that they will hold talks with the government on the dissolution of the National Assembly (NA) and provincial assemblies of Sindh and Balochistan, ARY News reported.
While talking to the ARY News programme ‘Off the Record’, Asad Umar said that talks will proceed on written recommendations tomorrow. “PTI made a very clear demand of implementing the Constitution. A counter-demand will come from the government side.”
He said that the talks between the government and the opposition were held in a positive environment and both sides will present written recommendations tomorrow
He said that PTI and the government expressed their opinions in today’s talks which will be resumed tomorrow. “There is no need to talk on Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) as every decision will be made in accordance with the Constitution.”
“We have to hold talks on the dissolution of National Assembly (NA) and provincial assemblies of Sindh and Balochistan. The Supreme Court (SC) already rejected the plea of conducting simultaneous elections.”
“However, it would be best in the national interests if we find a solution within the constitutional limits,” said Umar.
To a question, Asad Umar replied that the assemblies will complete their tenure on August 13 but not in July.
Govt-PTI talks
Earlier in the day, the first round of talks on holding elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) concluded between the delegations of the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and both sides will meet again tomorrow (Friday).
The negotiations between the government and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) were held at Parliament House to break the political impasse regarding elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and concluded after almost two hours.
A three-member delegation – comprising of Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Fawad Chaudhry and Senator Ali Zafar – were representing PTI in the talks.
Meanwhile, the government’s panel includes Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Senator Yousuf Raza Gillani, Saad Rafique, Naveed Qamar, and Kishwar Zehra.
The delegations of government and opposition will meet again on Friday (tomorrow) at 3pm.
