Employees’ protest against expected privatization of PIA has finally pushed the government to start taking strict measures.
Doing so, it enforced the Essential Services Act 1952 for a period of six months under which the PIA employees declining to discharge duties may have to face a prison term for as long as one year and dismissal from service.
Federal Information Minister Pervez Rasheed also warned that the employees violating the services act will be terminated.
On the other hand, chairman of PIA joint action committee, Sohail Baloch said we are ready to face oppression, but won’t step back from our stance.
The committee vowed to challenge the Essential Services Act in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan.
