Govt should inform people it has no policy, says Marriyum Aurangzeb

ISLAMABAD: As the dollar appreciated to an all-time high on Tuesday, the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) sought an opportunity to strongly criticise the government.

Addressing a press conference, PML-N spokesman Marriyum Aurangzeb decried that the price of the dollar has reached an historic high and the stock exchange is witnessing a slump in trading.

“People should be informed that the government has no policy,” she said. “The government should tell that it has no policy for them.”

She asked why the prices of electricity, gas and petroleum were raised before deciding to seek financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

“The is no difference between the prime minister’s chair and container,” she said adding that Information Minister Fawad Chaudhry should explain the conditions under which the financial package was being received by the IMF.

She also asked when the information minister would open the Press Information Department (PID) for the opposition. She added that the minister set up a website against fake news but was himself responsible for providing such news.

She said that PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif was arrested just ten days before the by-elections and was presented before the court in an armoured vehicle for developing Punjab.

Aurangzeb said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had apologised for moving DPO Pakpattan and now the Inspector General Punjab Muhammad Tahir was also transferred. She urged the Chief Justice of Pakistan to taken notice of the police chief’s removal.

She claimed that the IGP was removed for not agreeing with the circumstances under which provincial minister Mehmood-ur-Rasheed’s son was arrested and sought more clarification in this regard.

She added that five thousand jobs were given in the Pakistan Railways in the last five years and each one was advertised, while there was an increase of 25 million annual passengers.

She further said the PML-N brought projects such as CPEC to take the country on the path to development, and challenged if the current government can come up with even a quarter of such projects.

“We are just waiting for the 100 day period. It is a injustice to the people to raise prices,” she stated.
