Govt asked to approach CJ for Panama Papers inquiry

During the conversation, Shah demanded Dar to write a letter to chief justice of Pakistan for investigation into Panama leaks.

He reiterated his demanded that the government must form judicial commission under the chief justice and not a retired judge.

Shah also provided an alternative, saying if commission couldn’t be formed then a parliamentary committee be constitute for the purpose of probe.

Dar said he would communicate the demands to the top party leaders and hoped that the matter would be resolved.

The leaked papers, comprising 11.5 million documents from Panama-based law firm Mossack Fonseca, exposes how some of the world’s most powerful people have secreted their money offshore, and also implicated Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s sons Hasan Nawaz and Hussain Nawaz.

The PM had announced the formation of a commission to investigate allegations made in the Panama Papers that linked his family to a series of offshore companies.
