Govt has entered into blind alley, says Rasheed

“Given that the situation worsens, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will nominate First Lady of Pakistan Begum Kulsoom Nawaz for the premiership. He would not commit the mistake of entrusting Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif (his brother) or MNA Hamza Shahbaz Sharif (his nephew) with post,” he said while talking to anchorperson Sami Ibrahim in ARY News programme ‘The Reporters’.

The AML chief claimed the parliament was going to dissolve, adding that he would regret, rather than participating in jubilation, for the end of the government, only because the prime minister failed to run the state affairs.

He, however, predicted that the government would last till the Eid.

It is mandatory to note here that the opposition parties are on a boycott of the parliament until the prime minister responds to the allegations leveled against him in the wake of Panama Papers leaks.

Earlier, the Information Minister Pervez Rasheed had said that Premier Sharif would answer opposition’s questions pertaining to the leaks in the National Assembly (NA) on Friday, but today Speaker NA and ruling party member, Ayaz Sadiq said the prime minister would give a policy statement on Panama Papers claims in the House on Monday.

“I assure the PM that accountability would be held across the board. All those linked with the offshore saga and corruption will be held accountable,” said the AML leader.

To a query, he said Maulana Fazlur Rehman wished somebody ask him to join the opposition but the opposition was not ready for that.

Rasheed also said: “The day Nawaz Sharif will make the mistake of prematurely retiring General Raheel Sharif as the army chief, he would not be able to spend the following night at the PM House.”
