German envoy lauds PM’s efforts for cancer patients’ treatment

ISLAMABAD: German Ambassador to Pakistan Martin Kobler on Monday lauded Prime Minister Imran Khan for working towards provision of treatment to cancer patients in the country.       

“On this #WorldCancerDay my heart goes to all those who suffer from cancer. Best treatment must be given,” he said in a tweet.

He recalled his visit to the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) and praised the people, including the prime minister for working for the cure of the decease.

“I vividly remember my visit to @SKMCH. Hats off to all working for the cure of this disease. @ImranKhanPTI.”


World Cancer Day was observed across the globe today to create awareness and educate people about this deadly disease and how to fight it through screening and early detection.

This year, the Union for International Cancer Control, which organises World Cancer Day, is launching a new 3-year campaign under the name of : “I Am and I Will.”  It calls for a personal commitment to help reduce the global burden of cancer.

Cancer is a generic term for a large group of diseases characterized by the growth of abnormal cells beyond their usual boundaries that can then invade adjoining parts of the body and/or spread to other organs.
