General (R) Khattak is appointed for a period of two years. The post was lying vacant after the expiry of two-year contract of Lt Gen (R) Asif Yasin. Khattak was commissioned in Frontier Force Regiment.
The Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif appointed Gen. (R) Khattak on recommendation of Chief of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif.
Khattak was retired in October 2013. Prior to that, he served as corps commander Quetta after working as chief of Logistics Staff at GHQ for two years. Earlier, he performed as inspector general Frontier Corps and led it in the war against terrorism from 2006 to 2008.
