Woman allegedly kidnapped by own family over ‘free-will marriage’ in Pakpattan

PAKPATTAN: A man filed a police complaint against abduction of his wife by her family over free-will marriage, ARY News reported.

According to complaint, the woman named Irsa had tied the knot with Rizwan six months ago. Her husband alleged in the police complaint that family of his wife had approached a local landlord and got Irsa kidnapped.

Rizwan said his wife was also expecting a child. “I had also approached police initially but no one paid heed,” he moaned.

The police responded that they were holding an inquiry into the incident and the woman be recovered soon.

Earlier on March 26, three people were shot dead and four other sustained bullet injuries over matrimonial dispute in Rajanpur district of Punjab.

The incident took place in Lakha Basti of Rajanpur where two groups met an armed clash, resulting in death of three and wounds to four others.

After getting the information about the clash, the police and rescue teams had reached the spot and shifted the bodies and injured to the District Hospital Rajanpur.

The police said deceased include Majeed, who contracted marriage of his choice with a girl namely Farzana, three years ago, his mother and an attacker.
