Four terrorists killed in gunbattle with Rangers in Karachi’s Urdu Bazaar

KARACHI: Four terrorists including a woman were killed in Rangers raid in Urdu Bazaar area of Karachi, ARY News reported.

A terrorist was arrested, while four personnel of Rangers were also injured in the shootout with militants in downtown area of the port city.

The paramilitary force on indication of a wanted terrorist who was arrested from Karachi’s Ittehad Town, about presence of suspects in Urdu Bazaar conducted raid at a building.

The militants hiding in the building opened indiscriminate fire at Rangers personnel and also hurled grenades at the law enforcement personnel.

The Rangers called more force and cordoned off number-3 street of Urdu Bazaar.

The militants took position one of the flats of the building and engaged in a pitched fighting with Rangers force.

The gunbattle continued for seven hours in which four terrorists including a woman were killed while one arrested.

Four rangers were also injured in the gunfight.

A passerby child also sustained injuries from a hand grenade hurled by the terrorists.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Interior Ministry had issued notification on Monday regarding extension in police powers of Paramilitary Rangers force in Sindh.

The extension has been given under the Anti-Terrorism Act 1997. According to the notification, the powers have been extended for another 90 days.
