CHAMAN: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have shot dead four terror suspects in a shootout in border town of Chaman late on Monday.
Security sources said the CTD personnel along with officials of intelligence agencies carried out a raid in a neighborhood of Chaman following a tip-off about the presence of terrorists there.
The suspected militants on seeing the security forces opened fire in a bid to flee from the scene. When the security personnel returned fire, four militants were killed on the spot in exchange of fire, officials said.
The militants were said to be associated with a proscribed outfit.
Explosive material, arms and ammunition and an explosive vest were recovered from the possession of killed terror suspects.
On Sunday, the Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan seized a cache of explosives and illicit arms during an intelligence-based operation (IBO) carried out in Balochistan’s Dera Bugti district.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of Pakistan armed forces, said the security forces conducted a raid on hideouts of suspected militants in the district and recovered explosive material, RPG grenades, landmines, detonators and other arms and ammunition.
