KARACHI: The massive fire that erupted in a super store, situated in Gulistan Jauhar area of Karachi on Tuesday morning has been doused by fire tenders after a hectic effort of 18 hours.
At least 12 fire tenders and a snorkel took part in the operation to douse the blaze. The authorities suspended power supply to the area during the operation.
“The operation took time due to presence of chemical in the departmental store”, the chief fire officer said and feared that fire may engulf again as the administration has not removed goods from the store yet.
According to rescue sources the fire turned all the expensive goods worth million of rupees into ashes. No loss of life was reported in the incident.

The chief fire officer said, the basement of the building was given to the administration of the super store for parking but it was using it for the commercial purposes.
Earlier on April 27, Karachi eatery was engulfed by the fire and the restaurant was completely gutted in a blaze that lasted for four hours.
