Fehmida Mirza speaks up in husband’s defence

Holding a press conference here, Fehmida Mirza, wife of ex-home minister Sindh Zulfikar Mirza, questioned that even if a case is registered against her husband then does not he have the right to consult the courts.

“Despite a bail being granted to him, nearly 20 police mobiles and APCs have been surrounding the residence of former home minister,” she castigated. “A situation is being made in Badin for validating an operation at Mirza Farm House there.”

She appealed the chief justice of Pakistan to take immediate notice of the situation.

The former speaker of National Assembly charged CM Sindh with the responsibility of entire situation.

“Police were ordered to fire despite the court orders,” she said, inquiring the IG Sindh to explain why was a heavy contingent of police deployed outside the Mirza Farm House.

Voicing concerns over the security of Zulfikar Mirza, Fehmida Mirza said that political interference in police is evident and called for sending officials to Badin which had no involvement in politics.

“What justice is that terrorism cases have been lodged against ex-home minister and workers,” she questioned and demanded the federation to appoint a powerful IG and chief secretary in Sindh.

Even the people are forced not to take food and edibles to Mirza House, she added.

Moreover, the ex-speaker said that the poor people of Badin were their strength, while Zulfikar Mirza has rendered sacrifices for Peoples Party, adding that she strongly condemns police raids in Badin.
