Federal govt extends field operation of digital census again

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has extended the field operation of digital census once again after withdrawing its previous decision to not make any extension, ARY News reported on Friday.

The field operation of the digital census was extended till May 22 in provinces other than Balochistan. The verification process of the population census will be continued till May 31.

Earlier in the month, the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS)

had stated that the census will be completed in Punjab and Sindh divisions by May 15.

The Chief Census Commissioner had chaired a meeting regarding the digital census which was attended by Commissioner Lahore division and other officials.

The PBS spokesperson said that the population of Pakistan has reached 243 million according to the data collected till now.

According to the bureau’s spokesperson, 110 million people have been counted in the Punjab and 50 million were counted in Sindh.
